Mary and I recently returned from a most wonderful visit with friends in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. My favorite vantage point was from the balcony of our jungle-side condo. This Golden-cheeked Woodpecker was a highlight for me. From the balcony, I was 35 feet in the air and just 15-25 feet away from my subjects.
